BE-IN focuses on the development of innovative methodologies and pedagogical tools that will facilitate the development of a resilient, equitable and inclusive EU education system to reduce learning loss and face early school leaving (ESL).
Despite efforts, following the strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training to reduce early school leaving percentages to 10% till 2020, several EU countries are underperforming at a rate of 10,3% and above (PISA 2021). Equally, more than one in five 15-year-olds in the EU cannot complete simple tasks in reading, mathematics, and in science (PISA 2021). The COVID-19 pandemic compounded on the pre-existing inequalities and barriers faced by students and teachers in schools, resulting to severe learning losses and demotivation, therefore further increasing the risk for school drop out.
In order to combat ESL and the loss of students’ potential, teachers need to acquire new skills and develop innovative teaching and learning methods that increase student motivation. At the same time, educational equity must be ensured and all students must be offered the same opportunities and access to quality education and learning success. This will enable all learners to reach their unique potentials and become active and responsible citizens.
The project objective is to develop innovative inclusive and emotional teaching practices and educational tools for secondary schools that are specifically tailored to students’ personal learning processes and abilities. These practices and tools will help to reduce cognitive, social, linguistic and emotional barriers in the learning environment, promote a more inclusive space for students at school and help to tackle early school leaving.
The BE-IN Project will offer the following recourses:
- An International Road Map on the state of the art of innovative and inclusive pedagogical methodologies and practices.
- An Inclusive and Emotional Curriculum and training program
- Coaching Activities at school: testing the emotional and inclusive curriculum
- A digital European Inclusive and Emotional platform offering a Teachers’ Training Course
